Interview with Gentleman Cthulhu Creator, J. M. DeSantis, Tonight at 9 pm EST

J. M. DeSantis YouTube Interview 20 May 2020

J. M. DeSantis YouTube Interview

Tonight (20 May) J. M. DeSantis will be interviewed by JD Calderon at 9 pm EST on Calderon’s YouTube Channel, LIVE! (Though the video will remain up afterward, in case you missed it.)

With lock-downs still in place all over the world, and the fact that J. M. hasn’t been putting out too many updates on current projects, this interview is certain to be full of news and updates on projects past, present, and future, including Chadhiyana, Gentleman Cthulhu, and his latest in-progress novel. Dark Fire Press, ComiXology, and the Mummy Collection

And They Call it Mummy Love coverThanks to the establishment of Dark Fire Press (darkfirepress.com), Gentleman Cthulhu comics are now available on ComiXology.com. As of today, they’ve also added the long-awaited And They Call it Mummy Love collection to the site! You can find all three current collections listed here: comixology.com/Gentleman-Cthulhu-Emeritus-Moribus-Monstrum/comics-series/128431. Also, an IndyPlanet print version of the Mummy collection should be available soon.

While I know the present web-comic is very far behind, creating Dark Fire Press is allowing me to expand my reach with certain projects such as Gentleman Cthulhu. I’m planning to start posting new and back comics again soon, as I have all the intention in the world of continuing the web-comic for the foreseeable future. I just needed a break from both this and Chadhiyana (my other comic) to explore some new projects.  Read more… ›

It’s Been a While…

Since starting my blog back at the end of 2012 (on jmdesantis.com. following the publication of the first Chadhiyana comic), I don’t think I’ve ever let so much time pass between posts. The reasons for that are many, but rather than dwell on the past, I’d like to get everyone up to speed on the new, the old, and the behind-but-catching-up (and to do so in as few words as possible).  Read more… ›

No Such Con & The Final Days…

J. M. DeSantis Blog: No Such Con & The Final Days...

First, thank you to the students at Vassar College for their hard work at the No Such Con this past weekend and for inviting me back. I had a great time catching up with some people I met last year–both exhibitors and attendees–and speaking on the panels about Cultural Competency and Self-Publishing respectively (and a special thanks to Danielle Draik and Emily Ree for inviting me to the latter). There were a few surprises during the weekend too, but before I get into that, I want to point out to my readers that the final days are approaching to get your name included in the And They Call it Mummy Love collection as a supporter (deadline: 28 February 2018).  Read more… ›

Spend Cyber Monday with Gentleman Cthulhu Creator, J. M. DeSantis

It’s Cyber Monday! And with that, I, J. M. DeSantis, creator of both Chadhiyana and Gentleman Cthulhu, am highlighting my new storefront (jmdesantis.com/shop/), commission requests (open through 31 January 2018), and my Patreon page (to support this page and other work). And wouldn’t you know, there’s even original artwork for said creations on sale through the storefront.  Read more… ›

See You in Baltimore This Weekend

J. M. DeSantis - Baltimore Comic Con 2017
Another year and another Baltimore Comic-Con. It’s one of the shows I’ve done for the longest length of time (in, I believe, about eight years of exhibiting at conventions—since the Fall of 2009), and it’s one of my favourites. Baltimore is extremely artist friendly (just look at the size of its Artist Alley), and I’ve always found the show to be well run and the staff quite friendly (though, admittedly, I’ve never been to a show where the latter wasn’t true). Apologies for My Silence

I realise it’s seemingly been a while since there was any word from me (again), both on my websites and on social media. I can assure you this absence was not planned (unlike the time I took off in the summer to recharge and reevaluate things), nor was the length of it premeditated. Rather, I was without internet access in my studio for a full two weeks—something I thought was originally only going to be a few days.

I won’t get into specifics (I still like to keep some privacy in my life), but it’s worth noting I’m back online and just in time, as there’s a new Gentleman Cthulhu collection to release, a sketchbook to finish up and print, Chadhiyana to return to, and two conventions coming up in the next three weeks. Gentleman Cthulhu Creator, J. M. DeSantis, on Patreon!

J. M. DeSantis on Patreonhttp://patreon.com/jmdesantis

Today is an exciting day for me, though (to be honest) it’s also a bit terrifying because today I’ve officially launched my new Patreon page!

For a long time now I’ve toyed with the idea of crowdfunding, drawn by its potential to help fund personal, independent projects. As it is, personal, independent projects have been a major part of my career as a writer and artist, yet I’ve never been certain if I could carry a campaign all on my own. But then, over a year ago, I became aware of Patreon. Read more… ›

Panel Podcasts from No Such Con

As promised, I’m sharing the podcasts of the artists and writers panels I was on during No Such Con this past weekend. I had a lot of fun at the show (which you can read about in Tuesday’s blog piece: jmdesantis.com/2017/02/no-such-con-2017-write-up/), and both panels were great to participate in. Thanks again to our moderator, author Thomm Quackenbush, for having me on them. Read more… ›

Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One on IndyPlanet

Just one week after Chadhiyana #5’s publication (Rosarium Publishing through comiXology and Amazon), I’m officially announcing the IndyPlanet release of Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One–a collection of the first year of comics from gentlemancthulhu.com. This is the very same book that sold out before the end of the weekend at this past New York Comic Con. As such, the book will likely be on my table for a long time, but if you can’t make it to a convention I’m exhibiting at or just miss me at one, you now have the option to buy the collection online at indyplanet.us/product/143372/!

As with Chadhiyana #0 (which I self-published in 2012), Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One is available in both digital and print formats on IndyPlanet. Though originally my thought was to collect only the first year until a significant collection could be made (that is, enough comics to fill a square-bound trade), I’m planning now to release a collection every year. So, if you really love the web-comic, you’ll have these comics every year to look forward to and collect. Of course, for those who wish to continue to read them online, all of the comics will remain free on the website for your enjoyment. Read more… ›
